UK weather forecast – Coronavirus lockdown misery to be lifted with sunshine and 20C temperatures this weekend – The Sun

BARMY weather is set to return to Britain this weekend with temperatures expected to soar to 20C.

Brits have been shivering through the second week of the lockdown after the mercury plunged from the warm end to last month.

But it’s all set to change again come the weekend.

Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge said: “Temperature wise Sunday is going to be the highlight of the next few days.

“We are still under the influence of high pressure at the moment so there is still a decent amount of dry, settled weather around.

“It will still feel chilly for the next day or so but not as cold as it has been.

“Going into the weekend the wind shifts.

"It has been a north westerly wind which has been keeping us all cold but it will be coming from the south over the weekend.

“That means things will start to warm up. Saturday will be up to around 14 or 15C in parts and into Sunday we could well touch 20C.”

Thursday is expected to maintain the colder feel of the start of the week before things pick up going into the weekend.

After a frosty night, particularly across the north, it will be a dry day on Friday.

Temperatures will peak at 10C in the south and 6C to 8C in the north.

Parts of London will reach highs of 19C, with similar highs expected in Manchester, Cambridge and across Norfolk.

The weekend may prove to be a brief respite from the cold weather – bookies have cut the odds on this Easter being the coldest ever.

Coral has snow falling during April as odds-on at 4-5 while it is 2-1 for the white stuff to come down during the Easter weekend.

The firm has cut the odds of it being the coldest Easter to 6-4 from 3-1.

Coral's John Hill said: “As temperatures continue to plunge, the odds have been slashed on this Easter being the coldest since records began.

"The betting also suggests there is a strong chance of snowfall this Easter, which suggests there is no chance of Easter eggs melting this year."
