Meghan Markle’s best friend Jessica Mulroney has announced her plan to ‘resurrect’ a project to ‘mentor small female founded businesses in Canada’.
The stylist, 40, from Toronto, shared a link to a new Instagram page online, writing: ‘Resurrecting The Female Empowerment Project. Our goal is helping women who starting small businesses in Canada with mentors within the tech, finance, marketing and manufacturing spaces.’
The project is one of the first Jessica has announced since she found herself at the centre of a Black Lives Matter race row in June, after being accused of using her ‘white privilege’ against a black social media influencer.
The fall-out saw Jessica lose several high profile jobs, and the Duchess of Sussex, 39, was reported to have cut ties with her best friend.

Meanwhile, she shared a picture of herself in a lilac suit on the new page, writing: ‘Small female owned businesses need our help more than ever. These are challenging times but with the right mentors, we hope to give you the advice you need to get back on track.’
Jessica last posted about her endeavour to mentor female founders in May, just a month before she was encircled by a race row controversy.
The stylist has been gradually returning to work since the row, launching a new project, The Teacher’s Registry, last month.
The announcement of her newest project comes after Jessica revealed she was taking a ‘much needed break’ for a few weeks to ‘get some real work done’.
Taking to Instagram, the stylist said she hoped to restart the project, which she last posted about in May
The stylist shared a selfie wearing a red suit and monochrome vest top on Instagram in September, captioning the post: ‘Little girls night before a much needed break to get some real work done. See you in a few weeks.’
Mother-of-three Jessica returned to the social media platform on August 11 following a two-month break after the public rift with Sasha Exeter.
After the controversy, Jessica sent social media into overdrive by posting a cryptic message about her ‘true friends’.
She took to Instagram early yesterday to write: ‘Thank you to our true friends for sticking by us. We could never have made it without you.
‘Silver lining: we finally know the a******s who we thought were our friends. Best gift we could have ever been given.’
The controversy saw Jessica lose several high profile jobs, and the Duchess of Sussex, 39, was reported to have cut ties with her best friend.
Many interpreted this as a swipe at Meghan, but The Mail on Sunday revealed that the Duchess has privately stood by her friend and they remain close.
The Duchess was reported to have cut ties with Mrs Mulroney after the black Canadian influencer Sasha Exeter accused her of ‘threatening her livelihood’ after ‘taking offence’ at a call to arms on a Black Lives Matter video she posted.
Behind the scenes, Meghan, who lives with Prince Harry in California, has been quietly counselling mother-of-three Mrs Mulroney.
A friend said: ‘Jess has been a really loyal friend to Meg, she has stood by her through some really tough times. Jess may have made an egregious mistake, but that doesn’t mean she’s racist.
‘Meghan has stood by her privately and they’ve talked a lot. Jess was loyal to Meghan for many, many years. There was no way that Meg would let her down.’

Amid the controversy, Jessica was dropped by major TV networks including America’s ABC and Canada’s CTV and she publicly apologised for her actions.
A source told DailyMail.com at the time that Meghan was left ‘mortified’ by the scandal and informed her close friends she felt she could ‘no longer be associated’ with Jessica.
‘Meghan is absolutely mortified that she’s been dragged into this complete mess. She said Jessica is in no way a racist, but the way she handled the situation [with Sasha] was tone-deaf and heartbreaking,’ a close friend of Meghan’s said at the time.
‘Meghan said friends reflect friends and because of what’s at stake she can no longer be associated with Jessica, at least not in public.
‘She has to do what she has to do in order to preserve her dignity and her own reputation,’ the source added, admitting that they ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if the controversy was the ‘beginning of the end of their friendship’.
