Sports agent Rich Paul has been thrust into an entirely new type of spotlight than the 41-year-old was used to when he started dating Grammy award winner Adele in early 2021.
Despite being arguably one of the biggest names in music, Adele has managed to keep her love life under wraps with her beau doing much the same and leaving her fans desperate for any insights they can get.
After the Rolling in the Deep singer called Rich her “husband” during one of her Las Vegas shows in September, the couple has been under even more intense scrutiny as followers try to figure out whether they are married.
In the aftermath of the fan frenzy, Rich made an “embarrassing” appearance on CBS Mornings last month, garnering intense public backlash after his awkward comments about his beloved.
While promoting his memoir Lucky Me, Rich was asked about his Hollywood relationship with the 35-year-old to which he less-than-enthusiastically responded: “She’s been great.”
Unprompted, the sports industry veteran tried to elaborate adding: “I think she would agree that we’ve definitely helped each other.
“I’m in a good space, we’re in a good space. Happy. She’s superb.”
When asked about the “husband” title he’d been given during the September show, Rich all but repeated himself saying: “She’s great for me, yeah. We’ve been great for each other.”
The father-of-three admitted that his personal life is “not for the media”, which garnered him some respect and admiration from fans but not quite enough to turn the public tide.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, viewers unleashed their damning opinions, with many dubbing his nonchalant attitude “embarrassing” for both him and Adele.
One follower jokingly explained the situation as they understood it: “Adele (has) been telling the world she loves Rich Paul w/ her whole heart & being & that man basically said, ‘I mean, she aite I guess’.”
Another added: “Adele called that man her husband and he called her a cool lady i’m gonna be sick.”
A third slammed: “I don’t like how Rich Paul was talking about Adele. She is an amazingly talented and beautiful woman who speaks highly of him, he should have been jumping on the interview couch doing the Tom Cruise behind her!”

However, a few spoke up in Rich’s defense saying that his critics needed to “mind they business” and that “maybe he wants to be known as Rich Paul instead of ‘Adele’s husband’.”
A second shared: “Rich Paul was there to promote his book. Rich Paul is also not someone we see do a lot of interviews.
“I truly feel like this was him struggling to keep his relationship private while trying to find the words to let y’all know Adele is all him.”
Treading the middle ground, one avid Adele listener declared: “Well at least if Adele breaks up with Rich Paul we will get a great album out of it.”
