Marcus Wareing, 51, is one of the most prominent faces in British cuisine and currently fronts MasterChef: The Professionals as a member of the show’s judging panel. Now, the chef and restaurateur has revealed whether he would ever join the main MasterChef lineup alongside John Torode and Gregg Wallace.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, Marcus admitted he had never considered the hypothetical scenario.
However, he stressed he believes the current MasterChef judges are “doing a great job” and that he is not needed.
When asked whether he would like to join the main series, Marcus said: “That’s an interesting question. I’ve never thought of that.
“I think they’re doing a great job.
“I mean, I work with Gregg, and Gregg is a very important part of the professional show, because inside of him you’ve got two professional chefs, but we’re both very different chefs.
“So I think on the pros, Gregg is very interesting as being able to look at it from the everyday man rather than just the professional.
“So I think that’s really important.”
Marcus also reflected on the differences between the MasterChef editions and how his own mentality would fit into each of them.
He continued: “Do I ever see myself…? I’ve been on the other shows.
“I’ve been on the celebrity and the amateur one. They’re very, very different.
“The cooking is not the same. So I think being able to see, you know, I’ve still got that professional chef’s head on.
“So when I come into the studio, the amateur competition is very, very different.

“It’s a different standard. And maybe it’s – I don’t know.
“No, I think they did a great job. They don’t need me.”
However, the TV star did not rule out joining Gordon Ramsay on MasterChef US, despite the feud that erupted while they worked together at his restaurant, Aubergine, in the 90s.
Speaking about Gordon and his role in the US version of MasterChef, Marcus said: “He does the American version of MasterChef in the States, you know, and it’s brilliant.
“It’s different, but I think it’s still MasterChef – and it’s great.
“I do my bit here and he does his bit over there.”
The TV star went on: “I would love to go to the American version.
“Now that’d be pretty cool, wouldn’t it?”
