Carol Vorderman donates beloved helicopter to aid NHS amid coronavirus pandemic
Carol Vorderman has donated her beloved helicopter to help NHS staff, amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The UK Covid-19 death toll has risen to 3,605, with more than one million people infected with the condition around the world.
And the former Countdown star is hoping to do her part to aid those on the frontline, delivering them the PPE (personal protective equipment) they desperately need.
Taking to Twitter, the 59-year-old shared a series of photos with her chopper.
Alongside the uploads, she wrote: ‘My Mildred and I (my aeroplane N242CV) have had some adventures BUT I want to tell you that right now she is being used by the amazing people at @BAESystemsAir to ferry PPE to where it’s needed by our #NHS around the country…. #GoMildred #NHSThankYou.’
Followers quickly flooded Carol’s post with praise, celebrating her generosity.
‘That’s amazing – thanks Mildred & thank you Vorders x,’ a fan replied.
However, Piers attracted backlash when he suggested the maths pro should don a school uniform for the lessons.
‘Are you going to wear a nice mathematical uniform for this? One of the ones adults might enjoy, you know Carol,’ he asked.
Undeterred, she hit back: ’I’ll tell you what I’m not going to do Piers… tell you how to write boobs on a calculator.’
Viewers watching on from home were left unimpressed with the remark, flocking to Ofcom to complain.
After the watchdog confirmed they had received 42 messages about the quip, Piers was having none of it.
He simply responded: ‘Hate to break it to you, but that’s quite a low number by my usual OFCOM complaint standards.’
